Our Story
Thomas "Choyei" Sakugawa and Dorothea "Yasuko" Sakugawa started our family farm 82 years ago (1942) with livestock. In recent years the farm has grown to producing vegetables and flowers. Son Paul Sakugawa continued farming showing his family and children how to successfully connect with community and carry on in farming.
His son Ryan Sakugawa retired from being a pharmacist for over 35 years. He moved back from California with his wife Kelly to the place where his children were born, he was born, and many generations before him were born. He began growing the unique Kula "sweet" onion after many years of the family not producing it. With the success of a plentiful yield, he began reaching out to local grocery stores and restaurants.
